So, with control of both houses of Congress and the White House it would appear the Republicans are well on their way to keeping their promise: repeal of “Obamacare.”
Not since their failed effort to block the creation of social security in the 1930’s has any subject so obsessed Republicans than “health care reform.” Whole forests have been felled to produce the paper on which their fulminations have been memorialized. The topic dominates every speech, every public pronouncement. It has given rise to an unprecedented number of bills and repeated votes in the Congress. One might reasonably conclude that “health care reform” is more than a Republican devotion. It has been an obsession.
And yet in all this torrent of words, ostensibly about a healthy United States, two words are notably absent. Two words missing from all of their “health care reform” publications, their speeches, their bills, dare I say their thoughts:
“SICK PEOPLE.”
